HIV/AIDS

In the United States, more than 1.7 million individuals are living with HIV/AIDS and roughly one in five living with HIV is unaware of their infection. Since the first reported case in June 1981, the HIV epidemic has seen a decline in various trends especially that of AIDS cases and deaths which can be attributed, in part, to the wide range of innovative health care and supportive services for people living with HIV. [1] Below you will find information that will assist in improving the care delivered to patients living with HIV/AIDS.

Clinical Education Initiative (CEI) Line - Medical Providers can call for a clinical inquiry regarding a patient with an STD, HIV, HCV, or those in need of PEP or PrEP
HIV Clinical Resource: A direct link to the New York State Department of Health AIDS Institute. This link offers multiple resources around Clinical Guidelines, Quality of Care, Clinical Education and Policy.
BPHC HIV/AIDS Technical Assistance Resource List: A direct link to the BPHC TA page listing all of the current HIV/AIDS resources for the National Strategy.
The TARGET Center (Technical Assistance for the Ryan White Community): A direct link to HRSA’s HIV/AIDS Bureau under cooperative agreement with the University of California, San Francisco listing multiple resources for ADAP, Clinical Care, Consumers, Data, Fiscal and Quality.
HRSA HIV/AIDS Bureau “Find Ryan White HIV/AIDS Medical Care Providers” Tool: A search tool where you can locate Ryan White-funded HIV/AIDS providers by state or county, address, provider name. Providers listed provide HIV care to the uninsured and underserved including referrals to dental care and other services like transportation and access to HIV medications.
AIDS.Gov: This site provides comprehensive information regarding the National HIV/AIDS Strategy. This link offers options on how to add widgets to your PCA home page. These widgets include a link to a HIV/AIDS Prevention & Service Provider Locator tool widget, an AIDS.gov podcast widget, and a National HIV/AIDS Strategy blog widget. Forward this link to your web administrator to set up the widgets on your sites.
The AIDS Education and Training Centers (AETC) Program supports 11 regional centers (and more than 130 local performance sites) that conduct targeted, multi-disciplinary education and training programs for healthcare providers treating persons with HIV/AIDS. The AETCs serve all 50 States, the District of Columbia, the Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico, and the six U.S.- affiliated Pacific Jurisdictions.

Last week we held a webinar focused on Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP), a highly effective tool used to prevent new HIV infections for individuals at high risk.
