CHCANYS Healthy Futures Corps In partnership the Corporation for National and Community Service, CHCANYS Healthy Futures Corps is a health-focused, national AmeriCorps program that seeks to increase access and eliminate health disparities though long-lasting, sustainable projects. By mobilizing a cadre of dedicated volunteers to apply their skills and ideals in helping others and meeting critical needs, the program brings national service resources to community health centers, primary care associations and clinical consortia serving medically underserved communities throughout New York State.
CHCANYS Opioid Response Corps – AmeriCorps The opioid epidemic is a threat to public health across the US, but the problem is especially serious in New York. In New York State, opioid-related emergency room visits increased 73% from 2010 to 2014, and between 2014 and 2015 there was a 20% increase in opioid-related deaths, placing New York eleventh out of all 50 states for drug-related deaths. CHCANYS Opioid Response Corps is a workforce development program dedicated to assisting community health centers in addressing the Opioid Epidemic. The mission of CHCANYS Opioid Response Corps is to assure the provision of culturally appropriate preventive and primary health care to medically under-served populations and communities with a focus on connecting patients to opioid health education and treatment.
