DSRIP Update: Regulatory Relief Tool Now Available
The DSRIP design grant application and the final Performing Provider System (PPS) application both require PPS networks to request waivers of State regulations that would create barriers to success. In collaboration with Brown and Weinraub, PLLC and Health Management Associates, CHCANYS has developed a list of potential regulation waivers that FQHCs may want to include in their PPS network applications. read more >>

National Health Center Week (NHCW) 2014, scheduled for August 10-16, is right around the corner! This annual week-long event is a prime opportunity not only to celebrate our work, but also to educate others about the vital role that FQHCs play in transforming the health of the nation's most vulnerable populations – particularly important this year as we concentrate our efforts on stopping the funding cliff currently threatening the Health Centers program. Each year, we set aside three days during NHCW to recognize special populations served by health centers. read more >>

Geiger Gibson/RCHN Community Health Foundation Research Collaborative Releases Update on Impact of Funding Cliff
I
n an  updated analysis of their  November 2013 report, authors Leigton Ku, Julia Zur, Emily Jones, Peter Shin and Sara Rosenbaum use more recent data to estimate the number of patients who could be served in health centers in 2014 and 2020, depending on the outcome of key federal and state policy decisions: support for health center funding and state implementation of Medicaid expansion. read more >>

FY 2015 Service Area Competition Funding Opportunity Announcements Released
HRSA has released the first four rounds of FY 2015 Service Area Competition (SAC) funding opportunity announcements: HRSA-15-008, HRSA-15-009, HRSA-15-010 and HRSA-15-011. Through the FY 2015 SAC, HRSA will award approximately $591 million in funding to an estimated 242 applicants. read more >> 

CHCANYS Offers Data Support for SAC Applications
Again this year, CHCANYS Data Support Program offers assistance to health centers completing SAC applications.  In particular, we have revised our tools to simplify the task of completing Form 4 and Form 9.  If interested, please click here to submit a request.
 

HRSA Releases Program Assistance Letter 2014-07; Health Centers Urged to Re-Validate Scope by July 24
On June 10, HRSA issued Program Assistance Letter (PAL) 2014-07 Scope Alignment in HRSA Electronic Handbooks. This PAL explains how HRSA will migrate health center scope of project information to the updated Forms 5A and 5B. It also describes the process for health centers to review their updated forms, make limited allowable updates, and certify the resulting services and sites in scope via the Scope Alignment Validation (SAV) deliverable in the HRSA Electronic Handbooks. read more >>

NY State of Health “7th Inning Stretch” Awards Highlight Best Practices and Achievements  
In-person assistors are the face of NY State of Health (NYSOH) in communities across the state. Thanks in large part to their hard work, nearly one million New Yorkers gained coverage through the Marketplace during the first open enrollment period.  With the help of the New York State Health Foundation, NYSOH has created the “7th Inning Stretch Awards,” an opportunity for Navigators and Certified Application Counselors (CACs) to share best practices and be officially recognized for their achievements. read more >>

NY State of Health Releases 2014 Enrollment Report
On June 25, NYSOH released demographic enrollment data on the nearly 1 million New Yorkers who enrolled in health plans from October 1, 2013 through April 15, 2014. The data, which represent the first-year open enrollment period, show that more than 80% of enrollees reported being uninsured at the time of application, enrollment occurred in every county in the state and across all health plans, and across a mix of age groups. read more >>

The United States Department of Health and Human Services recently updated its Action Plan for the Prevention, Care and Treatment of Viral Hepatitis. Webinar: Screening for Viral Hepatitis Within Behavioral Health Organizations

2014 Health Center Quality Awards: Patient Centered Medical Home Recognition
HRSA has announced the availability of funds for health centers that have been recognized as Patient-Centered Medical Homes (PCMH) by Tuesday, July 1, 2014.  HRSA will award these supplemental base awards to health centers based on information on the PCMH webpage. Please check the webpage to verify that your health center’s information is correct no later than Friday, July 11, 2014. For more information on the awards, please click here.

Call For Participants: Hepatitis C Physician Focus Group
The NYS Department of Health, AIDS Institute will host a series of physician focus groups to discuss the successes and challenges in implementing the New York State Hepatitis C Virus Testing Law. This law, which went into effect on January 1, 2014, requires the one-time offer of a hepatitis C screening test to all persons born between 1945 and 1965 who receive services as an inpatient of a hospital or in a primary care setting. read more >>
