POLICY / ADVOCACY NEWS

Advocacy Activity Reports for Phase 3 of the Access is the Answer Campaign Due May 29!
Thanks in large part to the hard work and persistence of health center advocates nationwide, the Medicare and CHIP Reauthorization Act, a law which contains two years of continued mandatory funding for the Health Center Program, was signed into law last month. NACHC would like to recognize advocates for their efforts, but needs more information in order to do so. Have you collected any patient advocate cards or letters of support? Did your board of directors pass a resolution outlining action steps to fix the Cliff? Please send an e-mail detailing your health center’s recent advocacy-related activities by Friday, May 29 to grassroots@nachc.com and grassroots@chcanys.org.  The information you submit will be reflected in NACHC’s final Access is the Answer campaign reports and make it possible for NACHC to include your health center in recognition activities scheduled for this summer.

National Health Center Week is Right Around the Corner!
National Health Center Week is celebrated in August each year to rally support for the Health Center Program by showcasing the many services provided by community, homeless, migrant and public housing health centers nationwide. It also provides us with a prime opportunity to celebrate our work and generate community pride. While there are countless reasons to honor health centers, among the most important and unique is their 50-year track record of providing access to affordable, high quality, cost effective health care to medically vulnerable and underserved people across New York State and the rest of the country. We hope that you will consider hosting an event during National Health Center Week this summer and inviting your elected officials, business partners, patients, and community members to participate. To assist you in your planning, CHCANYS has developed a special National Health Center Week in NYS web page featuring an event posting form, a list of event ideas, flyers and social media tools, and much more! To access it, click here.
