CMS Finalizes Medicare PPS for FQHCs
On April 29, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) issued a final rule establishing a Medicare prospective payment system (PPS) for FQHCs. Under this new rule, Medicare will pay health centers a single encounter rate per beneficiary per day for all services provided, with some exceptions. read more >>

Phase Two of the Access is the Answer campaign is underway, and we hope that you are all busy collecting letters of support from your local elected officials and community partners. PCEPN Coordinated Exercise a Huge Success
On March 27, 2014, seven New York City health centers participated in a simultaneous coordinated exercise with the NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, the New York City Medical Reserve Corps, Wyckoff Medical Center and PCEPN.  The exercise was a full scale patient influx exercise dubbed PainEx 2014. read more >>

The CHCANYS Emergency Management Road Show
The month of April was a busy one for CHCANYS’ Emergency Management Team. We traveled to various conferences and meetings to deliver presentations on operations planning and the capabilities of health centers in disasters, as well as to engage state and national partners on a variety of issues. Our goal: to bring resources back to NY and help enhance the performance of our FQHCs during emergencies. read more >>

PCEPN to Offer Free Training
The Primary Care Emergency Preparedness Network (PCEPN)will offer two free training sessions in the coming months to primary care centers based in New York City: May 7 - Point of Distribution; June 4 - Emergency Resource Requests and Data Gathering. read more >>

National Incident Command System Training
HRSA and other federal agencies require that all its partner entities be prepared for an emergency.  Part of this preparedness is a familiarization at all levels of management and staff with the National Incident Management System (NIMS). Community health centers are specifically tasked with the development of emergency management programs by HRSA.  Part of this preparedness is ensuring that your staff is trained in NIMS. read more >>
