At the national level, the CHCANYS Policy Team works with the National Association of Community Health Centers (NACHC) and other Primary Care Associations to coordinate and provide leadership on key issues. The Bureau of Primary Health Care at the Health Resources and Services Administration looks to CHCANYS for guidance on issues important to New York State health centers.

Federal Funding Agreement Reached Congress passed (and President Trump signed off on) a $1.3 trillion spending package on March 23, 2018 that increases funding for the military and domestic spending and will keep the government funded through the end of September 2018. The bill includes $1.626 billion for the Health Center Program, a $135 million increase over FY 2017 levels. These additional funds are intended to help community health centers to expand behavioral health and substance use disorder prevention and treatment services, including opioid abuse, and provide access to overdose reversal drugs and recovery support services. Combined with the mandatory Community Health Center Fund that was renewed at the beginning of February, this federal funding deal brings the total funding for health centers in FY18 to $5.4 billion.
