Thank you for your interest in CHCANYS AmeriCorps, and in the CHCANYS Healthy Futures Corps and Opioid Response Corps specifically. I hope you are as excited as we are about serving the most pressing needs of New York State’s medically underserved populations. Read on to find out how you can become part of this growing movement.

CHCANYS Healthy Futures Corps (HFC) is an AmeriCorps program that promotes health care for America’s underserved, while developing tomorrow’s health care workforce. HFC members reach out to individuals with no regular primary care provider to increase access to health care, provide health education and support that lead to appropriate use of health care services and better “self-care” by health center patients, and recruit and develop volunteers to support community health centers.

CHCANYS Opioid Response Corps (ORC) is an AmeriCorps program that promotes health education, patient navigation, and care coordination for those affected by the opioid epidemic.  ORC members work with substance use patients and provide care teams to coordinator patient care. Also, they go into the community to educate about the opioid epidemic and team family/bystanders to use Naloxone to reverse opioid overdoses.  Our members work in highly affected areas of New York City and New York State including the Bronx, Staten Island, Albany, Buffalo, Rochester, and Syracuse.

Members perform much needed outreach, support services, follow-up, and other functions designed to improve access to preventive and primary health care and improve the health of all family members in underserved communities of New York State.

This program is available to all, without regard to race, color, national origin, disability, age, sex (including gender identity, sexual orientation, and pregnancy), political affiliation, or religion
