Medicare PPS Webinar: What You Need to Know for a Smooth Transition

Please join Cohn Reznick’s Peter Epp (CPA, Partner, Healthcare Industry Practice - Co-Managing Director) and Dolores Di Re, (Healthcare Industry Practice – Manager) as they address:

  • Aspects of the new FQHC Medicare PPS model that will impact the financial performance of FQHCs, now and in the future
  • Importance of developing an accurate charge structure
  • Key concepts and strategies for developing charges for G-codes

The goal of this training is to position FQHCs for success during the implementation of the new FQHC Medicare PPS system.

Payment reform continues to impact FQHCs, most recently with Medicare transitioning from the cost-based all-inclusive rate (AIR) payment model to the “new” Prospective Payment System (PPS). On its face, PPS would appear to result in increased revenue to the FQHC as the base rate has increased dramatically from the historic AIR.  However, claims data analyzed by CMS indicates that over 60% of FQHCs may wind up with less Medicare revenue under PPS versus today.

FQHCs will be paid on 80% of the lesser of actual charges or the “new” FQHC Medicare PPS rate, and must now attain a deeper understanding of their cost per service and establish charges based on cost and utilization.
