Description:  Intrauterine contraception can be used safely in almost all women, creating the potential to dramatically reduce the unintended pregnancy rate in the United States.  Learn more by attending this training covering efficacy, side effects, appropriate candidates, and strategies for meaningful dialogue between providers and patients about intrauterine contraception.  This training provides the central elements, basic fundamentals, and a comprehensive overview of intrauterine contraception, including the differentiation of methods per patient needs and special cases considerations.  The training will include a didactic lecture featuring a peer-review curriculum, along with a hands-on practicum with the three methods of intrauterine contraception available in the United States.  The hands-on practicum, held after the didactic lecture, helps health care providers feel more comfortable conducting pelvic procedures.

Intended Audience:  The didactic lecture is open to all relevant health center staff (physicians, nurse practitioners, nurse-midwives,physicians assistants, health educators, nurses and others).  The hands on training is reserved for those clinicians interested in providing intrauterine contraception.

Accreditation:  AMA PRA Category 1 Credit and nursing contact hours will be available.

Funding:  This training is funded by educational grants to ARHP from Bayer HealthCare Pharmaceuticals and Teva Pharmaceuticals.
