Webinar: Providing Cross-Gender Hormone Therapy for Transgender Patients
The National LGBT Health Education Center will host an intermediate level webinar for health care providers interested in delivering effective, culturally-responsive cross-gender hormone therapy for transgender patients. The webinar will be led by Dr. Gal Mayer, who as medical director of Callen-Lorde Community Health Center -- New York City's LGBT Health Center -- oversaw the care of over 1,600 transgender patients. Dr. Mayer will walk participants through the current protocols for treating patients with cross-gender hormone therapy, including a discussion of assessment, effects, benefits, risks, and administration. Throughout, Dr. Mayer will explain how to offer these treatments in a way that shows the greatest sensitivity and respect towards transgender patients. This webinar will last for 75 minutes to allow ample time for questions and answers.
