Emerging Infectious Disease & Primary Care Centers
This course will cover current events in emerging infectious diseases, the current state of surveillance in New York, infectious disease prepredness and response including a brief review of Point of Dispensing (POD) and islation protocols. It will also cover current national and local biodefense strategies with respect to law, public health, logistics, mutual aid, and reporting. This course will include the national strategy on biodefense, currently emerging infectious diseases, and bio surveillance and the health center's role in the infrastructure.
Course Objectives:
To review the public health strategy for preparing for and responding to infectious disease outbreaks
To review the role of health centers during outbreaks
Current infectious disease threats in New York State
