Open Door Family Medical Centers has been serving low-income, under-served residents and those lacking access to health care in the communities of Westchester and Putnam counties for more than 40 years, providing high quality primary health care and human services at affordable prices. JOB SUMMARY  

Open Door is seeking a Director of Finance to report directly to the Chief Finance Officer to provide day-to-day management of the finance, accounting, purchasing and revenue functions and their teams. All Open Door Family Medical Centers are located in Westchester, Putnam and Ulster Counties located north of New York City, which offer excellent schools, easy access to a multitude of outdoor activities and superb transportation connections to New York City. This position will be based in Ossining, NY.  

RESPONSIBILITIES:  

Management   

  • Responsible for managing direct reports (Accounting Director, Director of Purchasing and Revenue Cycle Manager) and their teams, along with accounting staff (accounts payable and payroll)  
  • Provide day-to-day management of monthly deliverables   
  • Provide continuous developmental feedback to staff including annual performance evaluations   
  • Acting as the only direct report to the CFO, work closely to establish, implement and monitor annual benchmarks that align with Open Door’s vision and business goals  
  • Oversees training and development of staff to improve quality and efficient work practices    

Financial Analysis and Reporting  

· Responsible for managing staff’s timeliness and accuracy of financial reporting  

· Analyze, interpret and report key financial data  

· Participate in various presentations to all levels of leadership including Board of Directors in support of and collaboration with the CFO  

  

Budgeting   

  • Understand and review various budgets (operating, grants, etc).   
  • Establish a more effective and efficient budgeting process with CFO and program directors.  
  • Prepare annual operating and capital budgets, and cash flow projections in consultation with the CFO  
  • Monitor actual-to-budget expenditures provided by Accounting Director    

 Financial Planning  

· Advise and assist the CFO in the financial modeling and development of timely and accurate project plans for new grants, sites and initiatives  

· Together with CFO determine feasibility and sustainability  

Information Technology for Finance  

· Explore IT needs for the department to improve efficiencies  

· Re-evaluate current systems and make recommendations for enhancements and changes, as required.  

 Compliance  

· Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state and legal regulatory requirements; advise management of actions and potential risks  

· Oversee internal and external audits, including those of Federal, State and local agencies  

REQUIREMENTS:  

· Masters’ degree in Finance or MBA with specialization in Finance preferred  

· Knowledge of healthcare finance preferred  

· CPA, Certified Healthcare Financial Professional (CHFP) or Fellow of HFMA (FHFMA) desirable  

· A minimum of 10-12 years in finance, accounting and related fields  

· A minimum of 6-8 year leading a department, including experience managing people  

· Financial modeling and budgeting experience  

· Strong team leadership skills, including personal development, coaching, mentoring, performance management and employee engagement management; ability to inspire and motivate others; commitment to strengthening the capabilities of the Finance team   

· Strong interpersonal skills and a proven ability to work with a variety of collaborators.  

· Demonstrate outstanding, communication (written and oral) and presentation skills  

· Exceptionally strong financial analysis and problem-solving skills  

· Good understanding of financial systems; proficiency with various financial reporting tools  

· Proficiency with MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, Access)  

· Responsive and comfortable working in a past-faced, high accountability health care environment   

· Outcome focused; able to understand current and changing organizational requirements and provide effective solutions
