Summary:
The Institute for Family Health is seeking to expand the Family Medicine Faculty in KINGSTON, NY for our well established 10-10-10 combined MD/DO program. The Residency Program is an integral part of the hospital and the Hudson Valley medical community, touching the lives of both urban and rural populations.
The Mid-Hudson Family Medicine Residency Program is a participant in the HRSA Teaching Health Centers Programs, with residents training in 3 distinct community health centers located in urban, small college towns, and rural settings. One of three residency programs operated by The Institute for Family Health, there are multiple opportunities for collaboration with our sister programs in NYC. Faculty is eligible for academic appointment at our affiliate medical schools- The Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai and NYIT College of Osteopathic Medicine.
This is an outstanding opportunity for a dynamic Family Medicine Physician Educator who wishes to have an impact upon the next generation of Family Physicians. Responsibilities include direct patient care (Obstetrics is optional), teaching and supervising residents/medical students, curriculum development, and scholarly activities.
Requirements:
Current Certification in the specialty by the American Board of Family Medicine. Or possess qualifications judged acceptable to our Review Committee
Must serve as the medical champion for our Medication Assistance Treatment 9MAT) Substance Abuse program and direct Residents in caring for these patients.
Have current medical licensure and appropriate medical staff appointment
All family medicine physician faculty members must maintain clinical skills by providing direct patient care
Regularly participate in clinical discussions, rounds, journal clubs, and conferences
Demonstrate scholarship through peer –reviewed funding, publication of original research or review articles in peer reviewed journals or chapters in textbooks, case reports or clinical series at local, regional, or national professional and scientific society meetings.
There must be One Core Faculty family medicine physician faculty member in addition to program director for every six residents in the program.
Dedicate at least 60% of time (24 hours a week or 1200 hours per year minimum) to the program, exclusive of patient care with residents and devote majority of their professional effort to teaching, administration, scholarly activity, and patient care within program.
Patient Care includes 3-4 sessions (12-16 hours) of patient care per week in assigned health center and Residency Education includes (24 hours) of residency program responsibilities including outpatient clinical education, participating in Inpatient call and rounding, program leadership, medical education of minimum of 1 lecture/workshop/didactic activity per month.
Other responsibilities to include Advising, Evaluations, Recruiting, Scholarly activity, Faculty development and assorted Administrative duties.
Education / Qualifications:
Graduate of an accredited medical school and an accredited residency program in Family Medicine
NY State Medical License
BOARD Admissible in Family Medicine by ABFM and/or ACOFP
