Position Description:

Summary:

The Institute for Family Health is seeking to expand the Family Medicine OB Faculty in Harlem, NY for our innovative 8-8-8 program. The Residency Program is an integral part of the Mount Sinai hospital and the Harlem medical community, providing care to underserved people in East Harlem and the South Bronx.

The Harlem Residency in Family Medicine is a participant in the HRSA Teaching Health Centers Program, with residents training in 2 distinct community health centers located in traditionally underserved urban settings.  As this is one of three residency programs operated by The Institute for Family Health, there are multiple opportunities for collaboration with our sister programs in downtown NYC and Kingston.  Faculty is eligible for academic appointment at our affiliate medical school- The Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai.  Through this affiliation, faculty has access to a large number of resources and opportunities for academic growth and advancement.  There are also many opportunities to attend local, regional and national medical conferences via the Residency.

We also offer a number of opportunities specific to Family Medicine Obstetrics, including our own Advanced Life Saving in Obstetrics (ALSO) class and trainer class as well as Centering Pregnancy.

This is an outstanding opportunity for a dynamic Family Medicine Physician Educator who wishes to have an impact upon the next generation of Family Physicians learning to care for underserved patients.  We are interested in faculty with a strong pull for social justice and equitable healthcare for all.

Responsibilities include direct patient care, OB call once a week and 1 weekend a month, teaching and supervising residents/medical students, curriculum development, and scholarly activities.
