Terra Firma is seeking to hire a licensed psychologist to provide individual and group mental health interventions to newly arrived children and families. Our federally qualified health center has NCQA Level 3 Patient Centered Medical Home certification and serves the Hunts Point/Longwood section of the Bronx and NYC’s homeless family shelter system. Terra Firma, developed in collaboration with Catholic Charities, provides co-located and integrated, immigrant medical and mental health care, social services and pro bono legal counsel for newly arrived unaccompanied immigrant children and their families. The program has a robust youth enrichment program to help youth acculturate and develop strong social supports. Mental health services include evaluations, individual and family psychotherapy, and support group for the teens and caretakers. All mental health services involve ongoing coordination with medical and legal providers. Mental health professionals will provide written affidavits to support children and families’ cases in immigration court. Job Description This full time position will be responsible for conducting psychological assessments and clinical intervention/treatment of individuals and families enrolled at CPP, and for developing, coordinating, & providing coordination of care for individuals and families within the health center(s). The position will include providing specialized mental health and coordination of services to immigrant youth and their families as part of the Terra Firma Clinic. The position entails collaborating with medical staff, legal providers, providing supporting documentation for immigration processes, and engaging in crisis assessment and intervention in a professional and knowledgeable manner. The position may be asked to co-facilitate a trauma-informed support group for youth. All mental health professionals working in Terra Firma are expected to write declarations that may be used as evidence in an immigration case (experience is a plus but willingness to learn is all that is required).
