60 Community Health Centers in New York State Received More Than $6.4 Million
The Community Health Care Association of New York State today announced that 60 community health centers statewide received more than $6.4 million in Quality Improvement Awards from the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA). These Quality Improvement Awards recognize the highest-performing health centers in each state nationwide, as well as those health centers that have made significant quality improvement gains from the previous year.
"Forcing people who came to this country seeking a better way of life to choose between getting the health care they need or pursuing a legal path to immigration flies in the face of the values upon which this country was founded. The administration’s final public charge rule does not trump Community Health Centers’ charge to provide high-quality, comprehensive care to anyone who needs it, regardless of their immigration status, whether or not they have insurance, or whether they can afford to pay. Despite the battle being waged against the 'huddled masses yearning to breathe free,' CHCANYS will continue to follow our mission and champion community-centered primary care in New York State FOR EVERYONE through leadership, advocacy, and support of Community Health Centers."
For more than 50 years, New York’s Community Health Centers have provided high-quality primary and preventive health care services to anyone, regardless of their insurance status or ability to pay. As we celebrate National Health Center Week, we are mindful of the fact that our means of providing these critical services is currently at risk.
