After over five years at CHCANYS, Matthew Ziemer is leaving his position as Director of Emergency Management to explore an exciting personal opportunity in Australia. His last day will be January 24. During his tenure, Matt has overseen the Emergency Management Program through blizzards, floods, an earthquake, two hurricanes, and a pandemic.
CHCANYS is developing a plan to manage this transition period in a way that minimizes disruption and ensures our ability to provide New York’s community health centers with the emergency management support they need. CHCANYS plans to fill the Director of Emergency Management position as soon as possible; meanwhile, please be assured that our efforts to support our health centers with emergency and disaster preparedness and response will continue. Mario Gonzalez, CHCANYS’ Emergency Management Program Manager, will oversee day-to-day activities and projects, and Suzanne Rossel, Senior Director of Health Center Support, will maintain leadership over the program.
