As the AmeriCorps Program Coordinator, Orlando assists in the recruiting, training and supervising of AmeriCorps members statewide. Additionally, he works with site supervisors to develop placement projects for the members, monitor program sites to ensure project objectives are met, and coordinates a variety of other events and activities throughout the year, among other duties.
Orlando has been a part of the community health center movement since shortly after earning a B.A. in Political Science from the University of Connecticut in August 2007. From January 2008 until August 2009 he was the Administrative Assistant for Primary Care Provider Initiatives at the Massachusetts League of Community Health Centers, where he helped manage several initiatives focusing on the recruitment and retention of primary care providers in community health centers across Massachusetts. In December 2009, he started working at CHCANYS as the Emergency Preparedness Program Specialist, where he focused on outreach between the EP program and member health center sites. In August 2010 he was promoted to his current position as the AmeriCorps Program Coordinator.
