CHCANYS UPDATES $2.7 billion Deficit Reduction Plan (DRP) passed by the legislature. This DRP includes a range of cuts and two major one-shot revenue measures. Click here for details of its health and human services components.
The DRP includes a delay (not a cut) in $45 million of HEAL funds not yet distributed. CHCANYS suggests that any health center with a pending HEAL project contact your Assembly and/or Senate member to apprise them of your project and emphasize that delaying payment would be harmful to the project.
Webinar: Patient-Centered Medical Home (PCMH)/ Meaningful Use: Recognizing Health Center Opportunities, Needs and Challenges On Tuesday, January 26 from 1:00 - 2:30 pm or Thursday, Jan 28th from 11:00 am -12:30 pm, PCDC and CHCANYS are partnering to provide technical assistance to community health centers seeking NCQA PCMH Recognition. During these two webinars, we will introduce the project and discuss the financial incentives related to meaningful use and PCMH recognition, share PCDC's latest NCQA PCMH recognition tools and provide a forum to discuss health centers' current efforts, obstacles, and needs.
December 2009 Medicaid Update Outlines Patient-Centered Medical Home Incentive Program The Office of Health Insurance Programs of the New York State Department of Health (NYSDOH) has just approved the release of the December 2009 Medicaid Update which outlines the Patient-Centered Medical Home Incentive Program. Chapter 58 of the Laws of 2009 authorized the NYSDOH to implement an initiative to incentivize the development of patient-centered medical homes to improve health outcomes through better coordination and integration of patient care for persons enrolled in New York Medicaid. FLU VACCINE UPDATE H1N1 Vaccine Recall The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has issued a non-safety related voluntary recall of certain lots of Sanofi Pasteur H1N1 Pediatric (0.25 mL, for 6-35 month old) vaccine in pre-filled syringes. This recall is due to a decrease in antigen content that drops below qualifying specifications. Click here for the CDC announcement.

Below is information provided by the manufacturer (Sanofi Pasteur) and instructions for return of unused recalled vaccine. NOTE: This only applies to the 0.25 ml pre-filled syringes with the following lot numbers: UT023DA, UTO028DA, UT028CB and UT030CA. If you have any 0.25 ml pre-filled syringes in your refrigerator, please check the lot number of this vaccine. Vaccine from all other lot numbers should be used and does not need to be returned.

Health care providers can now make the H1N1 influenza vaccine available to all New Yorkers, 6 months and older, including those who are not in priority groups established by the CDC. The New Federal Financial Reporting January 21, 2010, 2 pm EST Online registration cutoff date: January 18, 2010 The Financial Status Report (FSR-Form SF 269) and the Quarterly Federal Cash Transaction Report (PSC-272) are both now consolidated into the Federal Financial Report (FFR-Form 425), beginning with the federal fiscal year's first quarter ending 12/31/09. The Quarterly reporting previously filed using the PSC-272 report will now be due 30 days after the end of the quarter, instead of the 45 days previously allowed. Understanding Medicare Advantage (MA) Plans, Including Wraparound, for FQHCs Thursday, February 11, 2010, 2 PM EST Online registration cutoff date: February 8, 2009 Health centers are entitled to payment for providing any Part B service (e.g., FQHC services, x-ray, or laboratory) to Medicare beneficiaries through MA plans. However, health centers will be paid different amounts based on whether the health center has a contract with the MA plan or is a non-participating provider. Additionally, health centers will be paid a supplemental amount if the MA plan arrangement qualifies for "wraparound."
