Recent Trends and Future Directions for the Medical Home Model in New York
Between 2013 and 2014, New York State experienced nearly 20 percent growth in the number of health care providers formally recognized as Patient-Centered Medical Homes. According to a new report from the United Hospital Fund, much of this growth was the result of implementation of the Hospital Medical Home program, a $250-million quality demonstration program involving teaching hospitals. read more >>

Updated DSRIP Compliance Guidance Released
The New York State Office of the Medicaid Inspector General (OMIG) has posted revised DSRIP Compliance Guidance on its website that details the mandatory compliance programs that must be in place for PPS leads. It replaces the DSRIP Compliance Guidance 2015-01 that was released on April 6, 2015, and sets out some special considerations that PPS leads should work into their compliance programs. Proposed 340B Guidance Issued by HRSA Now Open for Public Comment
HRSA, Office of Pharmacy Affairs issued proposed 340B Drug Pricing Program Omnibus Guidance for notice and comment on Friday, August 28, 2015 in the Federal Register. The proposed guidance addresses key policy issues including eligibility and registration of hospitals and outpatient facilities, individuals eligible to receive 340B drugs (patient definition), drugs eligible for purchase under the program, prohibition of duplicate discounts, and manufacturer compliance. Medical School/Community Health Center Collaboration in Harlem Launches New Program to Prepare the Next Generation of Primary Care Physicians
The Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai (ISMMS), its Department of Family Medicine & Community Health, and the Institute for Family Health recently welcomed its first class of Primary Care Scholars Program students. The six students were selected to participate in a four-year track designed to prepare them for successful and sustainable careers providing primary care in medically underserved communities.

October is Corps Community Month!
During the month of October, the National Health Service Corps (NHSC) will celebrate its annual Corps Community Month. Now in its fifth year, Corps Community Month will once again increase awareness of primary care careers as well as highlight the NHSC’s role in bringing primary health care services to communities that need them the most. New Statewide Cooling Tower Regulation
As a result of the recent Legionnaires' Disease outbreak, new statewide regulations require registration, testing, inspection, and certification of cooling towers. For more information on Legionnaires Disease and to register a cooling tower, visit the NYS Department of Health website.

CHCANYS Interoperable Communications Drill
In June, CHCANYS, in partnership with the NYS Department of Health (NYSDOH) Office of Health Emergency Preparedness, conducted an Interoperable Communications Drill using the NYSDOH Health Commerce System (HCS). The drill was performed in order to assess the response rate of community health centers when prompted to confirm receipt of a notification by both email and phone.
